I'm working on a Corvette Grand Sport and am looking for some pointers on the blue that was used. Some pictures it looks non metallic and dark but most pictures the blue appears brighter and metallic.
I try to stick with duplicolor but I'm open to other suggestions. I was actually thinking about their intense blue pearl as it's pretty bright and the flakes are reasonable. Thanks in advance! |

Re: Corvette Grand Sport Blue -- Recommendations?
It is a metallic blue. It is not a pearl. It's very close to Miller Lite blue if you have access to a can. I think Duplicolor makes and Aquamarine color which is close.

Re: Corvette Grand Sport Blue -- Recommendations?
there were two kinds of blue used on the grand sport, one was calles Nassau blue, the other was darker, like Guardsman blue.
Both were metallic, check your references. |

The '90's version is Admiral Blue. If you can find HOK/Black Gold paint, you can get that color by mixing Tru Blue and Majik Blue pearls. It's a bright blue w/a hint of purple.

Re: Corvette Grand Sport Blue -- Recommendations?
Also Testors has Admiral blue in enamel spray for the "new" one,
and Nassau blue in laquer spray for the "old" one Jake

Re: Corvette Grand Sport Blue -- Recommendations?
Actually the Nassau Blue Metallic from testors is a little bit too light for the 60's racing version. If you are making the grand sport from the 1963 Speed Weeks in the Bahamas, they were raced by Mecom racing who used a paint from 1960 Cadillac lineup called Pelham Blue Metallic.
