Revell Cobra 427 S/C

Finally gave into the temptation to build this one. This is a really nicely molded kit and so far has gone together nicely.

Engine so far. If I can find some small wiring, I might take a crack at engine wiring. Looks pretty boring so far. That's why the hood stays closed.

My first attempt at flocking an interior. Turned out OK. Hard to photograph this, though. I'll play around and get better pictures by the time it's done.



Body is duplicolor blue metallic. No clear yet (will be duplicolor as well).





I like the hood scoop blue. Any thoughts?



I painted the knockoffs body color, but I'm not 100% sure.



I'd really appreciate any thoughts and comments (good or bad) on the hood scoop and knock offs.

Hood scoop looks good, but I'd redo the knock-offs in silver (alloy). However imho the wheel centres would look great in body colour (don't clear it & keep the rim silver though)

Hello JM Nice work! Love the color. I would keep the hood scoop blue. I like Amazons Idea of the wheel center changed to body color, the outside rim silver as is and change the knock offs to silver alloy to match. Also do find some wires and other plumbing items for the engine. It's just cries out for attention. Keep up the good work!

Nice work. I kind of like the knock-offs in blue. Take a shot and change, when the model is finished, if can´t stand them by that time. Right now the give thewhole thing a little more edge.

Good job, I like the hood scoop in blue, but the wheel knockoffs I would leave them silver.
And you should go for some wiring in the engine, it is worth the time, and the best thing is that these engines were so simple, that they are now very easy to detail without much effort.

Great job you're doing. This duplicolor base seems very smooth.

I'm pro stripes on the scoop and alu knock-off, but I understand your feeling to do something special.

I like the blue knockoffs though and I want to know how you did the stripe on the tire!

I prefer the stripes on the scoop - the blue mass in the middle of the hood "slows" the car down for me personally

I have a bigger issue with the flocking on the interior - you did it very well but for me this car wouldn't have a soft interior - It'd be all bare metal and leather

Of course, all of the above is piurely sublective

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I think I'm going to keep it as is and see how it looks when it's all done. I can always make changes, and this surely won't be the last one I build. It's such a fun kit!

I saw it on another cobra WIP. Basically, there is a groove on the tire that's meant for a decal. I filled it with X-14 Sky blue paint, then wet sanded it with 2000 grit paper to get it flush with the rubber. After that, I shot it with model master semi-gloss to make it more uniform. Turned out pretty well.

It's a "racing inspired" car, not an actual racer. Actually, I biffed the interior paint, and when I tried to strip it, the surface became uneven. Flocking hides it nicely.

Here are some wired engine pics. I know its all wrong, but it's my first attempt. The wire is 26ga solid wire. I think next time, I'll strip the insulation and paint the bare wire. Drilling out the distributor was a BEYATCH. How do you guys do it?

looks good. I'm on the fence with the knock offs. I've always liked a gunmetal or similar hue wheel center with silver "hoop" or wheel. The flat paint looks kind good IMO. But you NEVER see a cobra with a dull paint job

You didn't have decals bleeding problem? Mine was to thin and color had seen under it.

The decals covered pretty nicely. On the rear, there is a slight crease where it bunched up, and the solvaset lightened them in one small part (the blue doesn't show through, it's just not as white as the rest). These are cartograph decals; I've had good luck with them. We'll see if the clear coat helps.
