Should We Wait Till North Korea Has Nuclear Weapons Before We Do Something?

What do you think? Should we act now or wait till north korea has nuclear weapons to do something?

Here's a better idea.Why not just stop with the aggressive behaviour all the time?What gives the U.S. the right to decide who has what in the way of weapons?

Because the nuke was the worst thing we could have invented and used. After the Cold War, downsizing was happening. Now we have these "rogue states" getting thier hands on it.

About N. Korea. They haven't used up thier chances like saddam has. N. Korea is trying to get us to the negotiating table I think. That is how they work/communicate. And they already have nukes, so that gives them a nice card in thier hand.

How about the US going back into the anti ICBM treaty and diffusing its sickening 20,000 odd nuclear warheads before displaying agressive behavior towards anyone that could POSSIBLY be a threat to them.

Errrrr....hate to remind you,but you deterrent doesn't work.America had more than a few missiles at the time of the wtc/pentagon attacks.

Two nuclear bombs was all it took to end a world war.The U.S. has built hundreds,thousands maybe.The cold war is over,both sides lost.Think how much better off the world could have been without pouring trillions of dollars into pointless posturing.

The U.S. government needs to get out its dictionary and read the definition of 'defence'.

Remember how this all started. North Korea backed out of a agreement, that stated they wouldnt make nuclear weapons. How long have we been protecting south korea from north korea and now neither of them give us any respect. We give them food, we help their economy, and they just turn their back on us when we only ask them to not make any nuclear weapons. If you are a peaceful country, you are friends with other countries and help them out. North Korea has turned their backs on us and have made threats towards the united states now and in the past. Why should we try to negociate, when it is plain to see they dont care about what we ask them to do. If they dont want to figure out a peaceful way to make both sides happy, why should we waste our time trying. If they want more nuclear weapons, I say we give them more nuclear weapons by droping one on them.

I was referring to nuclear war, the whole "launch a nuke at us, we nuke you back". And how did both sides lose the Cold War? Russia fell, we still survive, that is why we are the only superpower right now.

I dont think war will be started between the US and N. Korea, I honestly think that N. Korea will use this situation to attempt to get aid from the US for their power claiming that should that occur they wouldnt need to use their reactors and would shut them down. Also, IMO, I dont believe Kim Jong Ill is entirely stupid by any means. He knows that should a nuclear device be fired upon the US by his country, the US will retaliate in full, and I doubt he wants this to occur. Just my $0.02.

I agree, I said in an earlier post on this thread that this is how N. Korea has talks. And since they have nukes we need to take extra care into dealing with the situation.

You lost.You could have spent billions of dollars on useful social projects,such as the fight against drugs,or better health,or affordable education.Instead,the U.S AND THE U.S.S.R. wasted untold fortunes in building more weapons than they could ever use,and ultimately not using them.As for the notion that America is a superpower,forget it.Any country that can be brought to a standstill by a couple of dozen fundamentalists armed with little more than carton knives is a bit of a joke in defence terms.The American military may have the numbers and the hardware,but it lacks the intelligent leadership to be worthy of any fancy title.

The US has the military that has the ability to take over the world. We have not done either one, what other country with such power as the US in history has not tried? Roman Empire?British Imperialism? Nazi Germany? I think it's pretty dam good and reasonable leadership.
We lost.... lol,ok No country is ever going to be a friggin Utopia but compare us to the world... hell I don't think we are doing pretty dam shabby.
If it wasn't for us and all our military spending we'd all be speaking Russian. USSR fell and not everyone is forced to speak English. Reason why is a government that works.
Wether you like it or not the US is the number one country. Not just in military power. Economics too "When the US gets a cold so does the World" old economics term. So if we have such lousy and bad leaders how did we end up in the position we are... Pure luck?

i heard they're trying to create new nuclear weapons in a next generation weapons program. Should be interesting to see what they can create to wipe out half the planet.

As for North Korea its too isolated for its people to know any better. Ideally we should wait till the leader dies but i think unifying north and south would be a better idea under the south's current leadership-government process so it doesn't give way to more dictators as such. They way they go about it i wouldn't know. Maybe talking to all the military leaders etc.........
