is it that bad to use 87 octane

with gas prices sky rocketing
i can't seem to afford 91 octane.
But the thing is, my 01 prelude does say
premium only. Is it really that bad to use 87 octane in my
lude?

you can fill half a tank with 89 octane. but make sure you fill the other half with 93 octane. combining the two will make it 91 octane. and the manual specifically states 91 octane ore more. if you really want to squeeze a penny, you can always do that. i wouldn't use anything less than 89 if you absolutely can't use 91 or greater.

how bout driving with a lighter foot?
that would save gas...
don't go out as much, don't get expensive food for lunch, brown bag it...

keep good gas in your car.
it'll thank you down the road...

I have a 99 and i run 87 and have no probs with knocking etc. I've herad of lots of other ppl that use the same octane and have no probs. Even so after all I've heard probably isn't the best idea. Unless octane is higher here in Canada lol.

walk yo po' ass around...j/k...gas is soooo damned expensive tho . u could jus get the 91 octane frm the start an not have to mix the two aye? its going to be hard on ur motor tho, so i'd suggest sucking it up. 2.00 a gallon...rip off...

we have it pretty good actually. look at other countrys.....

if u bought 89 then 93 u would prob spend the same amount as just getting 91 lol, theres no point in doing that.
