Re: Mclaren F1 roadcar colours

To my knowledge, there was only one F1 that was painted British Racing Green - it was chassis #023 that went to a Japanese man originally. It later ended up in the UK in the hands of Liam Howlett who eventually had the car refitted with a partial High Downforce Kit and at that same time had the car repainted the silver color it remains today.

There are some other F1s that are green, though not truly British Racing Green. XP5 is one in Dark Metallic Green and the others are 56XPGT in Silverstone Green and chassis #051 also painted Dark Metallic Green. Chassis #073 was also originally green - the color was listed AMG Green Velvet (Pearl) - but it too has been repainted, now an orange color similar to chassis #038 and the original color of #075.

Hi diecastmaniac1994,

would you be so kind and post some pics of your "BRG" F1, please?

Erik, without trawling through the archives, what is a "partial" HDF kit, and, after he "slapped 'his' bitch up", who took ownership of Howlett's F1?

Re: Mclaren F1 roadcar colours

I call it a partial HDF Kit because it lacks the fender flares over the front wheels and the front splitter is therefore narrower compared to all the other F1s we have seen with the HDF Kit. It also still wears the standard road car wheels, whereas all others have some variation of the 5-spoke GTR style of OZ wheels, or multi-spoke in the case of #073.

This is the car that ended up in Paul Stewart's hands and was featured in the Martin Brundle's Supercars video. That should help you locate some pictures to compare against if not immediately familiar to you.

Hi Erik, two things in my mind :
1) we have not pic of #073 in his original color ?
2) you think #073 and #075 have the same color ? It would be amazing to see both the cars together !
