Hybrid honda tranny for hybrid civic

i have a DX tranny (5speed) and i also have a Si tranny (with a bad input shaft ) but i want a tranny that has good exceleration 1-4 but low freeway RPM is there a easy way to get a 5th gear in there?? and which one will i want to use?? i know the Si FD is key along with the DX's 1-4 gears but what 5th gear should i use?? i really need the 5th gear for long trips and fuel economy (i have a 91 std hatch w/ DOHC ZC) i'm hopping to get some good MPG since gas is going up ($3 gal this summer) here in Cali

you would swap over the final drive. Not the 5th gear. I've heard of people usuing the SI final drive in a zc tranny.

Um....the ZC tranny and the DX tranny have the same final drive...swap the 5th gear from the DX (or an Si since the DX & Si gears are the same) into a ZC tranny...that should give you a low 5th gear RPM, but good acceleration in the 1 - 4. I'll hafta check if you can just swap in one gear...sometimes there are two gears grouped on the same shaft trannies are more fuckin' complicated than the engine...

I have been peepin' the ZC Resource today for some reason and there is a cool tranny article maybe it will help answer some of your Q's - http://www.thezcresource.com/html/tranny.php
