removing console

HELP!!! I am trying to do some serious detailing/replacing various worn parts in my '88 735i. How in God's name does that @#$@%&!! center console come out. I removed all apparant screws and removed the ashtray and the heater control box but it seems like there is one last nut/screw hodling it in the center, forward of the automatic shift handle. Does the wood come out? Any help will assure you a noble place in the afterlife!

lift up the gear selector trim panel and remove the two screws. Lift the wood panel up from the front or rear (can't recall which had the clips but one end is held in by metal clips that catch under the edge of the console. Once you lift it up you just pull away from the end that is clipped in to get it out.
good luck
