Aside from the one Tonio mentions.....it depends on what you want to do.....
AutoCad 2000 is great, and can do 3D solids too, but if you want something with real time photo rendering, there are packages like:
SolidWorks 2003
AutoDesk Inventor
Pro Engineer
If that is not what you had in mind, perhaps you would be better off asking in the Graphic Manipulation forum?

You are mean. You know how much Pro/E costs, don't you?
What about I-DEAS?

PTC has a free software called Pro Desktop. This is also built on the Granite kernel. It can handle 2D and 3D and quite capable overall.

Hiro,
Yeah I know.....I am an engineer after all and was just involved in instituting a software change from Pro-E to Solidworks in a Multi-National company.....
But unless people tell you what they want to do with software, how can you recommend the best to them?
I mean, AutoCaD LT2000 may alse be quite suitable.
After years of working in the automotive industry, I am out of touch with the 'cheap and cheerful' packages available.
