Subwoofers

Has anyone built any from scratch? I want to throw some in one of my models, but i can't think of anything to make them out of. Any suggestions/supplies?

not really sure on how to make the ENTIRE subwoofer from scratch, but it would be alot better if you have 2 speakers, then make a box out of styrene, then cut the holes in the box to fit the speakers, prime and paint and you should be set HTH
PS, find a small piece of clear styrene and put it on an angle on one side of the box, and have the speakers wired up, itll look real REALISTIC

hey, sorry bout that, i was in a big hurry.. Anyways, i foudn this straw, that Was thicker and harder than most straws. I have no idea what it was from, probably an old waterbottle or something.. i have no idea, just found it in the kitchen.. Well anyways, i was trying to make exhausts, and i thought that if i added heat, like a real exhaust, there would be carbon, and it would be black on the inside... But it expanded into round like tubes.. soo i cut them, and put a piece of strene on the bottom... but the only thing is, theyre not perfect, so if u want them, we could work somethin out.

something else to try is to use like paper or thin plastic. Cut out a ring for the cone section. Cut one side of the ring so you can over lap parts to get the right slope of the cone and glue that toghther. Then cut out a ring to use as the mount point like where the screws would go. Then you'd have to make a center section out of something. Just something to try. I'll try to get some pics drawn up if you want to see what im talking about.

What about making a mold from wood then vacuum form with plastic sheet or put a 1-hour-epoxy on the mold?

Hi,

I've bought a 1/24 Dubcity Chevrolet van , and there was 3 woofers and 2 amps in it.
I've prepared a mold and have cast lots of these with resin for my models. They are made with amber resin.

Woofer:

Diameter: +/- 12mm
Thickness: +/- 4mm

Amp:

Length: +/- 25 mm
Width: +/- 15mm

If you are interested, contact me by PM , we could find something to trade.

Hope it will help you.

Deedlit

I thought about making my own subs and then went out and found these:

I got the silver pack, they are 1/24 scale and made by Hoppin Hydros, and it comes with 2 amps, 2 battery packs, 2 12" subs outa box, 2 separate 10" subs in boxes, 2 10" subs in a box , and 2 6 x 9 speakers.

They are great and look very real and to scale. All i have to do is slap some primer on and paint them... I also bought the amp and battery accessory pack that comes with extra amps and batteries.

I also just found ****20"**** DAYTONS!! .. they are made by hoppin hydros and look soooo gooood.. i'm puttin them on my reviera lowrider

**when my scanner is working i will post pics of the subs and such

I believe you can order these things from http://www.hoppinhydros.com if not, then I can always order them through a hobby shop here and send them to you. I think they are around 17$ Canadian.. so thats like $11.50 american.
