Please help convience parents

ok, i currently own a 96 eclipse gs. i have an offer for one of the nicest eclipse gs-t ive ever seen, this guy is also a person i consider a good friend. My parents dont like power, and they know this guy is pushing a lot of it, i think if i tell my parents to put a governor on it for 70mph they might go for the idea of buying it. i can just take the governor off when we buy it, does anyone else have andy good info that would help me out, ya know, anything that says how a gst is better than a gs.

thanks a ton
wes

(i havent posted in forever, so thanks to everyone new that i dont know, some people from way back might remember me from the summer)

a govenor for 70mph? Thats almost unsafe for Highway speeds... traffic passing you up like you're standing still....

Never heard of a 70mph speed limitor... maybe like a Ignition with a programmable rev limitor??... like My Ignition, I can set it at 3,000, 6,000, 7,000, or 8,000rpm.

Maybe some research is in order? Just limit the motor so i cant turn say over... 5,000 rpm?!

Sorry, I dont have many answers for ya.

I'm sorry but I agree with polygon unless you have at least 3 years of driving experience i would not recomend a more powerful car.

aside from power and the more things that can go wrong with a turbo'd car, *more things to break that is* there is no + like safty or better gas. I dont think years has anything to do with it, i've only been driving 2 but i've put on around 120,000 miles. I'm also on car 3/4 *I own 2 right now* and have destroyed 1, fucked up 1 (my moms, but I saved the car from an accident of a guy almost hitting me...so it was curb or being sideswiped into a wall), one was pretty well destroyed before I got it, and the other I just fubar'd pretty well but it has 190,000 miles on it...so its time for a rebuild anyway.

All this has taught me how to deal with just about anything.

So my question is, 1 how old *currious* and 2, how much driving experience have you had. If youve driven to school, that being 2 blocks away, for 6 months, i dont recoment going from a GS to a GST, mass power difference...

Question +

How much power does this GS-T have? Not claimed, real horsepower. What modifications has he had done? I agree with Redneck, It would be very unsafe to be governed at 70mph! Good Luck Buddy!

there is a thing called a slow lane, big trucks and slow people use it *or should*...some cars like metros and colts go on it, so 70 wouldnt be too bad. Althought 80 would be better *then again 55 saves lives *

Well what I was meaning is that if your maxed at 70, and you have to get out of someones way, there will be no way to go. You know some sort of emergency thing, or something happens. You know!?

ok, im 18 and i have a good amount of driving and racing expierience. ive driven about 60k miles and ive been to two driving school and am a regular at the local tracks. i was saying...put a governor on for 70 just to give my father a sense of security, the day after we put it on, i can have it removed without him knowing. thats just an idea i had, so i actually wouldnt be limited to 70 but for 1 day at most. next: my car has 205hp dynoed (140 stock) i put a turbo on, so i know the feel of one. my friends car (the one im trying to get) has 340hp dynoed. this may seem like a huge difference, but im actually quite use to the power, my best friend owns a 'vette with near the same amount of hp that i drive frequently for him at the track near by. so, my credentials are substantial and i wont actually have the governor for long.....so, my question, again, is what are some ideas to convience my parents to let me buy this more powerfull car.

i left this out--his mods include a 20g which is the main thing, its intercooled and all air pipes have been boosted to 3 in. sownpipe and all. he runs all this without nitrous, but it is possible to set it up if you wanted to, the internals can withstand a bit more power due to the mods he has done on the head and bottom end.

thanks again
and to the guy with the lebarron, i remember when you painted your car, i'd forgotten how good the red looks though, nice job..

wes

Now it sounds like you know what you are talking about. The first post made me think that you are some 16 year old with a month of experience that thinks he's schumacher. 340hp that is very good out of an 2.0l. Btw what is a 20g never heard of that?

You could always move out get a job and an apartment and then get what ever car you want. Untill then it might be good to go along with the parents.
