Talking My day at the Drags. (lots of pics, slow on 56k but OK)

It was great day! Drag racing is not really my thing, its all over far to quickly.
Give me some fucken corners!!!

Thanks to Phil and the Silvia guys for organising it, Vince you think you could post a link in thier forums?????? Some of them might want to see the pics, (I also have some Silvia pics if you have Phils email)

The Civic dosnt make a good drag car. Below 5,000rpm there isnt really enough hp to go really fast, Its great on the street, just faster than regular traffic and gets great millage.
But above 5,000rpm it has to much hp. And gets to much wheel spin off the line. I didnt want to break anything, or destropy my tyres which launching at 6 plus would have (I like my tyres. ).
If there had been another car there in the same peformance bracket I might have pushed it once, but everything else there was either a lot faster, or a lot slower than my car.

I was only launching at 4-5,000rpm. I should have been letting go at 6-7,000rpm (which is where the red civic was launching at) but I didnt want to go home on a trailer.
I guess I could have gone another .5 sec faster maybe, if I got a luckey trye destroying run, and with my lack of drag experiance I know the car could go a bit faster again.

There was a red EG Civic there with a stripped interior and a B18c.
It weighed 100kgs less than my car, and had an extra 20hp. With semi slicks it did a best of 13.8
Driver skill has a lot to do with it.

The GTR was just fucking awsome for the first 2-3 seconds.
Then you just sit there and watch the secenry get faster and faster.
But the launch is pretty damn awsome.
It really does slam you back in the seat.

I took about 60 odd pics, heres just a small selection.
Ill post more latter if theres enough interest, but thier just of Evos and Silivias, nothing special to us Kiwis, but the Yanks might be interested.

Wild 300z, Had either 289hp or 289kw at the wheels, depends how he was feeling when you asked him. Anyway I did a run beside him, and we were side by side till about 100kph, at about 250m, then he got traction and ran a time 2sec's faster.

B18c Powered EG SiR Hatch. Stock engine, stripped interior, semi slick tyres. 13.8sec pass

EG vs A Stock Elise which also ran a best of 13.8, and I think won this race.

GTI Pulsar with a heavily modfied SR20DET in it. He did a best of 13.2

WARNING The below pics may create arousal and fluid discharge in Skyline Sluts.
Normal people can just enjoy the visable display of power and traction.

All are of Vince's (RazorGTR) R32 GTR, and all show him leaving behind what ever he was lined up against.

And below are I think the best GTR pics Iv seen in a while.

Vince staging with a passanger. Note the position of the passanger and the angle of his helmet.

Vince getting the Power down!!!
Now note the position of the passangers Helmet. :ylsuper

Actualy I see an Elise several times a week. Theres one parked in the workshop at the moment.

The owner of that red one is currently saving for a K20c engine swap from a new Integra. 200hp and 6sp should make it a real rocket ship. (it currently has about 120hp) The one in the work shop is getting a wild head and cams from the UK installed and should make around 190hp.

And could you email the pic of the GTMotorsports Silvia to Thomas? (the owner) his email will be on the site which is on the side of the car, my email is still down after the server change, and he mentioned he wants pics of it.

Awesome Pics Moppie and Taz!

It was a great day with a very nice variety of cars out there. It is weird cuz in those pics the GTR looks like it is launching nice and hard and straight but that could be further from reality. Usually the rears broke free still and the front would wonder a bit.
Damn that poor guy should have listened about sitting back more. He is lucky he didn't hurt his neck.

That Elise is wicked for the power it has. I think everyone was pleasantly suprised at its performance along with your car dude. Who knows if you removed that extra weight you were carrying it could have meant another .2 of a sec.

I am sure Taz will be taking more pics at the next Skylinesdownunder meet. I will also let you know when it is incase you want to come down for that. I may be able to get you strapped in with Joe if he runs. His GTR last I heard was pushing 480+ hp at all four wheels. He has run an 11.2 but didn't have the poke he has now.

Actually most of the car club drag days are relaxed and layed back like that. It makes for a really fun day. All spectators can come down into the pits and check the cars out. There is a lot of interaction going on, not only between the drivers but the fans as well.

That is one then that really seperates the strips here from those in the states. Other than that the tracks themselves suck here as far as quality but hell sure makes for an all out fun day which is also important.

Dang Moppie, I wanted to see your car all revved up next to some other car on the drag, did anyone bother to take pics of his car?

BTW, I like the first S15 that tazdev posted! Anyone got an idea what the name of color is?
