Getting a Used Tiburon?

I'm thinking of buying a used Hyundai Tiburon, but I have no idea which model year to shoot for. I have a limited budget (which is good for Hyundais, they have no resale value!!), and I really like this car. I'm trying to keep it under 8k. I've heard a few problems about seatbelts, CV joints and paint jobs with the Tibs...anyone have any info or opinions? It'd be a first car, so i don't want to screw myself over =(.

Go to www.hyundaiaftermarket.com and www.hyundaiperformance.com

Those 2 sites are the leaders in Hyundai tuning. You'll learn everything you need to know about Hyundai's there.

There is a safety recall on the seatbelts, they will install a clip that stops it from doing this. It can be a safety issue if you put the belt on without fixing it and it doesn't retrain in an accident.

I would avoid 2000 tiburons. I have one and it's going on 3 years old 53K KM's. I have changed the oxygen sensors many times, spark plugs, tons of rattles, the tires don't last very long (although a used should have replacement tires on it). I have replaced my wheel bearings 3 times! They are cheap. There are lots of rattles. The radio is junk, works when it wants to.

The seat belt is a pain in the ass but it is liveable. Bearings usually go every 22000-25000 on most but then I have heard of some lasting longer. Tires, check out Pep Boys-$65 new plus install. Radio - buy your own. Performance good but could be better. I have a 2001 tib and it is great but the o2 sensor is a crappy thing when you put a header on it. Seats are firm and get dirty really quick.Every car makes noise as the miles and pot holes take there toll. It is like everything, with time comes problems. Nothing is perfect so keep that in mind.

good luck and hoped this helped
