Formula vs. GT?

What are the differences between the 1988 Formula and the 1988 GT? Aside from the fastback bodystyling of the GT, are there any differences in suspension or engine or anything? Would the Formula not handle as well? I'm asking because I'm in the market for an '88 GT model, and I've noticed that Formulas are significantly less expensive and easier to find. If there aren't any actual differences, I'll just get one of them instead.

Aside from the body styling the only other difference I can think of would me the interior. But that isnt much different. There were 5,484 formulas made and 6,849 GT's made in 88. I am pretty sure the suspension is the same. I have never driven an 88 GT but we own a formula and it handels pretty well.
Hope this helps.

The formula was made to be more of a sleeper. It was slightly faster then the GT's but if you dont know fiero's you would think it was a regular coupe because it looks just like a 87/88 coupe. It does use all the suspention as the GT, and obviously has the same engine.

The Formula wasnt faster.

It was basically a beefed up version of the regular coupe, for people who wanted the coupe look instead of the fastback look.

I personally prefer the notchback.

Engine, suspension, etc all the same. Only difference is the interior.

if you had a GT vs Formula (both same year, 88 only year of the formula) the formula would take it because it is a little bit lighter then a GT.

go to PFF www.fiero.nl best fiero fourm around (I am KRMFiero on there) you can get any info you need.

Yor Indy has a 2.5L Iron Duke engine, it is possible to turbo it but you will run into lots of problems - it is not a really strong engine. for the HP you will get from it you are better off swapping in a 2.8 engine out of a wrecked fiero. best advise is to go on PFF, registure, do the search for engine swaps, 2.5 turbo, and stuff like that until you find what you need. but if your looking for performance a 92hp duke is not the best platform to start from although it is possible.

the formula may have been faster only slighty due to power to weight ratio
