Why would anyone want to do that to a Pantera? I would think going from a Ford smallblock to a Chrysler bigblock would really throw off the weight distribution. The Pantera was more about handling then straightline performance, and it's not like a 351C 4V has any problems with straightline performance...

I don't mean to sound like a whiny purist, but I like the original 351C in the Pantera

CBass, the hemi wouldnt disrupt the weight distribution too much. The Big Block should only be about 200lbs heavier... which should help it gain traction.

Plus Pantera + Hemi = How it should of been done in the first place!

I think so too the more weight it has to the back wheels the better grab she's gonna get, plus big horse power gain.

In a straight line it will help with the traction, but it will kill the cornering ability.

It already a rear heavy car, and that extra 200 lbs of big block plus accessories is going to make it worse...

I think the 351C was an adequate engine as it was, especially when you stroke it to 7 liters. The valves and ports on the motor are massive, and it could easily make 600hp...

you're forgetting its a mid engine application.. the extra weight wont matter much.

Actually, the Pantera had really bad handling problems because of it's poor weight distribution... It was prone to both severe understeer, and severe oversteer, depending on speed and application of throttle

Really though, those Cleveland smallblocks have enormous potential! If you start with the 400M block, (it's a cleveland block with a 1" taller deck), you can make a 7+ liter stroker, and the valves on the Cleveland 4V heads are just enormous, as are the ports. The intake valves were 2.19", and the exhaust valves were 1.7"

Honestly, there is a ton of potential in that smallblock... Then again, I'm a little partial towards the Cleveland, the 400M I have is a factory Cleveland stroker
