R32 GTR, with understeer.

This is a really happening corner of AF!!! not.

Any way I got me a R32 GTR with everthing on it, including the Fully custamisable suspension and about 800+hp.

The problem is no matter what I do to it understeers very badly.
Theres little to know turn in and then just massive understeer, even at very low speeds.

Anyone want to share some settings?

If you havent already, turn your ASM either off or to level 1 or 2. Also try adjusting your limited slip differential. Tell me if that works, and i might even get the car and look for some other settings.

On the limited slip differential thing. I have the initial torque setting to 10 for the front and rear. Now the Acceleration torque setting, I have mine at the max because I want that acceleration coming out of the corner. Let me know if that helped.

Well it took you guys so long to answer I actualy worked it out.

Basicly the R32 sucks to begin with, but with very hard frount set up, springs and shocks, and with a very soft rear se up, springs and shocks,
and plenty of frount brake bias, plenty of -rear toe to encourage turn in, and the intial frount diff set to about 5, and accleration set to about 5, and the rear diff wound right up tight intial about 20, acc around 40+

You can then slide the car into the corner, get a big drift out of it.
It still handles like crap and is a real handfull, but 1,000+hp really is to much for it.

THe R34 however is a much tamer beast, and can be made to go round corners.

I like the R32...it handles quite nicely, but I guess it comes down to your technique and driving style. Most of the cars have a good personality and if you get used to using them you can negotiate turns without much problem.

I leave most of the settings on my r32 pretty much stock. I've put all the mods possible on it and the thing works well. If I'm undertsteering then I oversteer (either faint or power-over...or a combo ) and can make it through any turn with good speed.

My favorite cars in the game are the GTRs, but I love how the NSX handles in purely stock form. Esprit is nice, but it has a tendency to drive like a pig and oversteer unexpectedly. MR2 and 240sx are cool too, but they aren't nearly as fun.

i will impart upon you some simple rules from how you would set up a real car if it was understeering.

the basic rules are conserned with either anti roll bars/torsion bars and spring rates.

if you have an understeering car, then either softening the front, or hardening the rear...or even both together will begin to counter the understeer. begin with just adjusting the roll bars to begin with, but if more drastic measures are needed, then start messing with the spring rates.

if you dont believe that i know what im talking about, just look at my signature

I agree with what you're saying but you must also understand this is a video game so realism isn't the same thing as a real car.

One reason that softening the rear as Moppie did might help his car out would be that when pushing the car hard it would allow more weight transfer and the outside rear tire would lose adhesion easier...inducing a mild drift and causing some degree of oversteer.

I usually dislike roll bars...they seem to make the cars handle a lot less edgy so they feel sedated (sp?). Just like the ASM and TCS, I turn them down so that they are only active when I was going to lose the car anyway...I like to keep the car feeling like a street car, but able to handle a lot harder driving and still be safe. Spring rates I use to some degree, but only if I have a problem with the car...in most cases when you upgrade the suspension in gt3 it makes the car feel firm and planted enough for me...I focus mostly on power, speed and traction when I mess with settings.

oh yes, i fully understand, but GT is the most realistic game i have ever come across for responding to set up changes that a real car would respond to. kasanori (sp?) has an obsession for detail, and this shines through in the game

Re: R32 GTR, with understeer.

well my R32 is almost stock it has 400 HP and the suspesion is bone stock the tranny is fully deckt out. i don't use a Limited Slip Diff., and the ASM and TCS are off. it has super soft tires on it. i think for me it handles wonderfully, but i think i need to get a bit of tourqe off the front tires and give some to the rear
