Cool 2001 Mustang

Hey everyone,

Well about a month ago I got my first car (I'm 16) a 3.8L V6 Mustang Coupe. I had to and have to work pretty hard to support and pay for it but its really worth it. Anyway my questions were: Does anyone else own the same car and if you do what do you think of it? What do you Mustang people think of this car in general? and What would be some good and somewhat inexpensive mods I could do on it?

Thanks a lot!

V6 upgrades

I have a 2001 V6 and most of the mustang people I've run into have GTs or Cobras. I've never been shunned or laughed at for having a 6 banger. They have their lifestyle "steeds" and others have theirs "ponies." Someone driving a gorgeous red Rousch actually said he liked the clean look of the 6, something different, there seems to be less of an arrogant outlook with mustang owners, unlike the rice burner kids. Anyway, replace the stock air box with a MacProducts cold air intake ($189), it sounds great (raspy) and boosts the high end revs, but installation is a pain. Go with a good Flowmaster muffler ($90) if you can't go with the Bassani Cat-back. The combination intake and muffler sounds amazing with full-throttle acceleration. You could go with a "dual" exhaust but the V6 manifold and headers are in one piece which means you can't replace the headers to get true "duals." Why would you want to have a GT ripoff anyway? You bought a 6. Finish it off with Goodyear Pole Position tires and a cool bodykit from Xexon and you're set. By the way the struts and springs can be replaced- Bilsteins and Eibachs- they drop the car about an inch and it improves handling. Hope this helped you out.
