Fuel Consumption .....

I've been wondering this for a while now, but driving around mostly a 35 mile round trip to work each day with about 3 miles of that town driving. I am lucky if i get 300 miles out of a tank. I'm wondering if this is correct, or if i am using too much fuel. I don't change up much before 4,500rpm in 2nd 3rd and 4th ... and tend to cruise at about 90 to 100 mph in 5th. Does anyone else have any light to throw on this or am i just seeing the results of driving it just a little hard? It runs as sweet as a nut with no rattles or smoke ...

Cheers.

Patrick

It really depends how big your tank is...

Is it the GA16DE engine? Monopoint or multipoint injection??

Seriously, I had a 100NX with probably the same engine (GA16DE) with multipoint. It was very economical up to 70mph, then started dumping fuel.

guess it's just the nature of the beast. I was really startled when I moved from that car to the primera GT. 150bhp of shear pleasure, and my fuel consumption went right down!

I have found that anything above 90mph, you can almost watch the fuel gauge drop. I have the 2.0L SR20DE engine, though, so I don't know how much that will help you.

I get around 360 - 400 on a 12-13 gal fillup. That's mostly in-town driving, and I have the 2.0 litre automatic. You probably need to take the car to the vet (there are possible mechanical reasons for low mileage) or you need to let up on the gas pedal if you want better MPG.

I had the 1.6 in my Nissan Sentra, with an avg. of 32 mpg city, and up to 47 highway.
