Does anyone know what the quickest way to simulate rust would be?

There is some products that you can get to simulate rust.
I saw a model on the internet of someone actually grinding up real rust and gluing it on.

You could damage your model with some KNIFE ACTION!!!!! maybe drilling!!!!!!!!!! I know Model Master(Testor) makes a paint called "rust" No. 1785.
