Swapping a B18C Engine for a LS in the State of CA

I just bought a B18C engine to swap in my GS Teg, but I heard in the state of CA that I had to go to the DMV to get a permit for swapping in the engine in order for it to pass emissions during visual inspection? Does anybody have any knowlege in this arena? How should I go about with this?

as far as i am aware..
the only people who need to know the engine is the smog dudes..
when they do a visual .. they only check to see if the engine is not broken or out of usual order.. in fact i bet if you took it in they wouldn't even know the diff.. the only reason the dmv wants to keep track of that crap is they might think it's not smog legal.. which it is of course..
so just swap it in .. and take it to get smoged and then if something goes wrong take it from there but i see no reason to wait..
