Shock Absorber Experiences Please

Here's the scoop. I'm in the market for a softer ride, period. To that end I've maxinized that effect with new tires, weeks of air pressure adjustments (settled on 30psi front, and 29 rear) and achieved incredible results towards quiet and comfort.
Like anything else, "I want more" !!!
I've checked my stock shocks, their completely unmarked so the wont reveal the Mfg., they operate as they should where they dampen the bounced car quickly, maybe too quickly, and their leaking just a bit near the tops. The service manual calls that a normal "weeping" of oil.
I've read many reviews, searched all the forums, and all I seem to find is stiffer rides, better handling, less dipping and swaying, etc. I've also seen some that offer the best of both worlds either through manual adjustments, or sophisticated internal valves. I dont want to manually adjust If it can be avoided.
Doe's anyone have experience setting up a softer riding shock absorber, or recommendation ?

I had a 1994 crown victoria and edelbrock performer ias on it. they are performance so they ride in "firm mode" on flat pavement but go soft when they hit a bump or whatnot but corner and hold the tires flat to the ground. I really enjoyed them as I was also looking for a soft ride but still wanted good handling. You don't notice the firm except that you corner very well since they soften (the ias patented valve) when they hit pot holes bumps, etc... these shocks also have polyurethane bushing ( don't dry out) they are supposed to keep a nice flat ride by seperating wheel movement from body movement basically they keep the body flat while they shocks dampen the road rather that the car going up and down as much when the shocks dampen. Your 97 towncar has the same suspension set up except that you always have air springs on a lincoln but it's an option on a ford crown vic. Also I have a 98 towncar but only an executive the steering is alot tighter and handling is improved. I hear also that the comfort version of the bilstein's are good but i personally don't know.
