I need quick help....
88 honda accord
when I'm driving, forward or backward, every gear. I hear this scraping noise. It just started yesterday morning, first time it's rained here. It scrapes even louder when I use my brakes. I take the wheel off and see this  the shiny area around the caliper is where I think something is scraping, like a rock or something. see all that shiny stuff, that's little metal dust particals.  So I think there's a rock stuck in the brake part and is scraping all the time and even worse when I brake. So....how do I fix it? And quick before I go pick my gurl up from work in 30 minutes. Thank you

Uh, sounds like you need to change your brake pads?
Exact same thing when mine were down to bare metal, but when I checked my outer pad, there was plenty of material left, but it was the inner one that was totally worn down.

It looks like your break caliper may be loose dude. Are u sure it isn't loose?

It's probably time for a brake job. They typically put a little metal tab inside the brake pad so that when it wears down to 10% (or whatever) the tab scrapes the rotor and that's your "low brake pad" warning sound.

alright, I just went to get my gurl from work. It did it most of the way there and to her house. Then on the way to my house it didn't do it at all, not even when I was braking. Then it did it once for a second and then stopped again. Would warn brake pads do that, cut in and out like that?

Dude. Brake pads are hella easy:
Basically, go to any Schucks, Napa, whatever and buy the brake-pads (you can get them as cheap as like $20 or so for the set). Then, pull off your caliper. Remove the old pads, hang onto the shims and metal clips. using a large c-clamp, compress the caliper piston back into the housing (you may want to pop the lid on your brake-fluid reservoir, and make sure it isn't too full so it doesn't overflow). Install the new brake pads with some "disc brake quite" on the backside of the pads and shims. Put the caliper back on (check your chiltons or whatever for torque settings). Put the lid back on the reservoir.

ok, I was paniced cause my gurl's dad would get mad at me and blame me for this, even though I can't control it at all. He's only home on the weekends, just found out that he's not gonna be home this weekend. Sweetness, so I'll be doin' that sometime soon. Thanx for the help.
