how-to: fender flares
how-to make fender flares (bolt-on type)
This mini-tutorial shows just one of several ways this can be done... ![]() ![]() What you need: - styrene strip 0.4mm x 6.3mm (.015'' x .250'') - styrene strip 0.75mm x 2.0mm (.030'' x .080'') - stretched sprue - modeling cement - hobby knife - file ![]() Step 1: Glue the thin styrene strip to the inside of the wheel arch and let dry. ![]() ![]() Step 2: Once the thin strip is completely dry, glue the thicker strip to the outer side of the thin strip. Let dry thoroughly. ![]() Cut the thin strip to match the thicker strip. Step 3: Glue the stretched sprue to the edge where the fender flare meets the body. ![]() Step 4: Cut and sand the fender flares to the desired shape. Done ![]() PS: You can use this technique to build a support for wide body kits or wide wheel arches (just fill with putty and sand smooth). Have fun! Re: how-to: fender flares
Haha. This is a cool tutorial, I might have to use it to fit some fatties in some project cars.
