WIP Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
Hi,
this is my first WIP thread here, building the Hasegawa SUBARU LEGACY GT TOURING WAGON. ![]() Because I think it is a bit too bland to build OOB, I decided to have fun with it and lift it (4.8mm). I will also put some goodies on (more on that later). The Hasegawa chassis is nicely detailed and a good base to start. All the lift parts are made from evergreen styrene. I even managed to keep the steering poseable. Just in case you're wondering...I did not use reference pictures, therefore it might not be totally accurate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The exhaust had to be re-routed in order to clear the driveshaft. I used styrene rod bend to shape to replace the original pipe. Catalyst and muffler are the original parts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All the above was done in one night Mock-up with the body shell in place. The struts are not in place yet as they are not finished. That's it for now, I'll post updates later today or tomorrow. Thanks for looking, please feel free to C&C. Cheers Sebastian PS: I suppose there was no OUTBACK model of this generation because i couldn't find pics. Please enlighten me if I'm wrong (blubaja?) Re: WIP Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
Nice job on the ride height. The Outback version didn't come out until the 94/95 model year. Keep the progress coming.

Re: WIP Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
Hi Sebastian,
nice idea to lift it up. Will you use the kit-wheels?

Re: WIP Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
Hi Micha,
no - I'm not going to use the kit wheels >> it'll have some nice ones suitable for a good "offroadish" look. You'll see it soon ;-) Greetz SEB |

Re: WIP Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
Hi guys,
thank you for the encouraging words. A small update: I sprayed the floorpan black with the (unfortunately grabbed) gloss black can I should have painted it flat black. Too late now, but I decided to make it dirty beforehand ...so it doesn't really matter This is the first time I used the Tamiya Weatherig Master (Set B). It is easy to handle and has a very realistic effect. But...I think the supplied "sponge" will not last very long Does anyone know of a substitute that works? I tried Q-tips, but to no avail... On to the pics ![]() Rear axle...still missing a few parts. Note the custom made heat shield for the new exhaust routing. ![]() Heatshield made from cigarette pack foil with double-sided phototape. ![]() The "engine" may look too clean, but it'll be covered by a scratchbuild skid plate. ![]() Lifted rear axle detail. ![]() Here you can see how the parts look before weathering. |

Allright,
The chassis is almost finished. I weathered and added the missing parts. ![]() Parts before weathering. ![]() ![]() Parts weathered and installed. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sneak Preview of the scratchbuilt skidplate. Thanks for watching, comments? Cheers Sebastian |

Re: WIP Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
Fantastic! How could i miss this? The weathering looks great and the lifted suspension, too of course! To find matching wheels will be a bit difficult, i think.

Re: WIP Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
I like what I see, you're doing something nice and original and along the lines of what I see real Subaru owners doing in the owner's club I belong to
![]() Keep the updates coming.

Re: WIP Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
lets see the wheels/tires, or at least a mockup chassis picture, so I can see how "lifted" it really is...

Re: WIP Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon
This is a very cool project! For as obnoxious as Hasegawa's zillion-part suspension can be, your 5" lift is a very interesting direction to try!
I'm already curious what we'll see inside the back hatch and on the roof rack! Bull bar up front? And some off-road lights, why not?!
