lowering a 1994 explorer?

I am thinking about getting a 1994 explorer, and was wondering if there is a way to lower them a little bit. I think the one I am going to get is a 4x4, and I do not plan on doing any offroading with it, and would like to put the stock cobra rims that came with my pony on it without it looking too silly with the big gap between the fender and the tires. Any help would be appreciated, such as websites or company info.

Lowering a 4x4 will be a problem. The front axle is the issue.

Lowering a 4x2 is fairly simple. There are aftermarket kits for lowering that replace the lower suspension arm and coil springs on the front, and relocate the spring perches on the rear. An alternative but more work on the rear is to put the rear end above the leaf spring, requires spring removal and remounting rear to spring. The above changes require changes to shocks as well, since the overall length to the shock has shortened...buy a kit to make your life easier. Check out retailers for this stuff in the truck magazines, like "truckin".

well i must say why would you lower a truck? but to each his or her own i guess...second those pony roms wont fit...the hubs onn a 94 (like mine) do not take well to rims with out holes big enough for them...i know i have looked at alot of cobra rims for mine. american racing makes some nice rims...personally i prefer the AR-136's if you got a ? about your 94 ask away e mail me @ [email protected] i have a 94 and it has never seen a shop for anything but tires...so i been through most of what you'll see.

Re: lowering a 1994 explorer?

You are going to lower it for what reason? So you can only go over small bumps?
