Unhappy Windshield wiper help.....PLEASE

I am having problems with my wipers stuck in the up position when turned off. Everything works ok when they are turned on. I have read other threads on the site and seem to be a little confused. I have no problems disassembling everything, I get down to the silver/brass colored object ( not really mechanically educated) . That is where I am confused , I look at this and I am not sure of the tab I am looking for to fix the problem. There is a small black tab that is NOT attached to the silver/brass thing. Is this the tab that needs to be bent? This tab is also kinda small and seems to be a pretty solid piece of metal, so I am not sure what it should be hitting on the brass/silver thing as it rotates. Also I hear of people talking about a spring??? what spring????? Any information that any of you can help me with would be great. If you have any pics that would show someone as mechanically illiterate as myself would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to those who can help.

Cool Re: Windshield wiper help.....PLEASE

Well for those who did look thank you. I had enough of the wipers in my field of vision, so I did what I had too. I ripped it all apart again, studied the problem, smacked the black solid metal tab with screwdriver and hammer and proceeded to fix my problem. That little black tab was the answer, works like new and did not cost me 200+ to fix. (quote from garage)

Thanks again

Re: Windshield wiper help.....PLEASE

Big Bear I sent you an e-mail.
I am having trouble with this. I got the wipers off and all and went to the following website to see the confusing picture.

http://http://files.automotiveforums...PG94963788.jpg

Is the tab seperate from the transmission structure? Like 1/16 inch towards the drivers side of the car. How do I bend the tab? What I see that looks like a tab is already bent but probably a little too far from the spring structure to stop the spring from hitting it.

I bent the tab a little and the wipers do stop on the bottom about 1 in 3 chances now. Just wondering how much I should bend this tab or how far to bend it what direction etc?

Thanks!

Ingefanclub,

Welcome Aboard!

You should be able to find some answers in this thread:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=767192

If that doesn't provide adequate direction, please start a new thread describing your particular problem, rather than resurrect a thread more than 90 days old.
