92 taurus lite flashes code 51 what is it ?

One of two things:
You got a short to ground in your air bag system And/or your air bag diagnostic monitor is fried.. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that is what code 51 intels. NOTE: you need not be concerned about the air bag deploying accidentally on you, because the thermal fuse in the diagnostic monitor is melted, eliminating power to deploy the air bags. Fordman
