Revell Charger SRT-8 and Cadillac STS-V

These are Revell's Uptown STS-V and Charger SRT-8 kits. Get past the horrid boxart and the dumb oversized rims and they're fairly respectable curbside kits. Lots of custom options that can be used w/other models.

I cut off the scissor door hinges on both models, shimmed the door edges as necessary w/sheet plastic, sanded to fit, and glued the doors in place.

Interiors have nice detail. Lots of good decals for these kits, including all stock emblems. I used Revell Magnum SRT-8 wheels on the Charger, and Aoshima 19" Racing Hart Type CR's on the Caddy. The Charger ends up looking stock, the Caddy w/it's two-tone paint and custom rims like a mild whip. Brakes are resin repops made by GTMike.

I added half-round styrene strips to the Caddy to make door handles (they're smoothed on the kits), sanded them a bit, and after it was painted I added dark gray and white washes above/below to give them 3D appearance. The Charger got it's doorhandles via my drawing program and custom decals, also helped w/some paint to give them 3D effect.

These were quick and dirty fun, far from perfect but enjoyable to build and display.

Re: Revell Charger SRT-8 and Cadillac STS-V

those are some sweet rides. I HAVE to get me some of that action. I saw the testors charger at hobby lobby, but where can I get the revelle kits? I don't want to pay the $20 they are asking at the hobby shops.

Thanks. The Testors Charger is nice; it has tons of detail and yet builds easily. I've built the Daytona but can't show it off online until it's review is published.

These Uptown kits have shown up at many Wal Marts for $12.97-that's where I got these, and some online dealers have them for less than that.

Definitely liking that Cadillac, I need to think about adding one of those to the mountain of kits I'll never get around to building.

What color are they Bob?

Thanks, they're painted Tamiya TS Gloss Aluminum (the Caddy has TS gloss black on top). I started w/about 1/3 of a can of Gloss Aluminum, and w/my new Eclipse HP-CS I got both cars painted w/that can of paint! I find Tamiya airbrushes really nice and goes a LOT further when airbrushed. I go through those small disposable mixing cups like mad

Re: Revell Charger SRT-8 and Cadillac STS-V

I thought you would have just rescribed the handles. They look great tho. So they are both curbside now? Not that the stuff revell put in is much of a motor..PMed you

Re: Revell Charger SRT-8 and Cadillac STS-V

These are, as usual, fantastic models. Did you build them curbside?

Edit: sorry, missed that part of the first post. Not used to curbside Revell USA kits.

Re: Revell Charger SRT-8 and Cadillac STS-V

great looking builds especially the caddy. On the door handles, thats just styrene glued in place and the shading above and below are painted? if so, GREAT job

Actually they aren't... they have motors but they're just 'plates'.

Great job! i love the door handles on the caddy, Now looking at mine I wish I had done that, it just looks more complete IMO.

Great job!
I really like your work on the Caddy.
Neither my local wallys or HL have gotten those kits and my LHS sells out as soon as they get any. It's for the best really as I have way too many projects going already.
