First time at the street races

Well, I went to organized street racse for the first time on Sat. in Nanaimo, at the Duke Point ferry terminal after the last ferry. (Location is for Cbass, hehe)

Barely anyone showed up that night, but I did get to run the only race that night. I raced a late model Honda Accord with the 3.0L V6 making 200hp.

The friends I went with thought I would get destroyed, but my 141hp 3.0L surprised them all, hehehe.

I lost, but not by much at ALL (it looked like 2 car lengths I think), I'll be schooling that car after I get some more things done, as long as it doesn't spray, hehehe. Nice guy by the way, not a ricer at all, very clean car, only intake and exhaust with a 75 shot nitrious kit so far. My car has a ghetto cai with a K&N and a muffler, plus a tiny bit of weight reduction, and that's it.

A couple minutes after this someones cell phone lights up, cops, we get hassled on the way out. I decided I don't want to race there again, they just wait around the area until they hear people race or whatever and set up a roadblock.

Saw an impressive undercover car though, silver new buick with a plainsclothes officer, no giveaway at all except the 2 antennas on the back, no lights showing anywhere at all, no tinted windows.

In the end, fun waas had by all, and I love 2-way radios with a passion, they make all driving 100% more fun

I haven't seen any racing in Nanaimo... Up here, we have some pretty mean cars, but we don't have many "organized" races...

We have iron up the wazoo... I hang out at the local speed shop(we don't compete, different products), and I know most of the fast guys around... There's a 9 second nitrous BB Nova! Scary car...

There's not too much for crazy fast cars down here on the street, but I know that there are a lot hidden away in garages that you'll probably only see at the car show or maybe at a track.

As for my car, I'm getting all my suspension stuff right now (suspension technique spings and KYB GR2s in front, Gas-A-Just in back), and have a bigger throttle body and fuel injectors on the way.

I am going to be starting to look around and start shopping for components to make a turbo system soon (after I beef up my drivetrain with a 5-speed tranny with some choice parts). I'm going to follow what another guy is doing on the mailing list I'm a member at and try to get mostly the same stuff.

He'll be running a T4 capable of 400hp easy, 500 if pushed. On stock internals my car should be able to take about 300hp, not sure if more since no one has really done it.

We should meet up sometime Cbass, I want to see your project car, and get a tour of these crazy cars you talk about

By crazy cars do you mean the ones that run around my town, or the ridiculous projects I take on?

Of my projects, the only one that runs right now is the Aerostar, and thats because I haven't torn into it yet...

I'm getting ready to move right now, so all my projects are kind of on hold, but I will start work on the Rex, when I get my lift.
