need help please read and answer
hey i have a t-3 turbo from a chrysler something or other and i'm
planning on putting it on my 91 civic with built d-16 engine. My problem is that the downpipe is pointing towards the rad. and i can't cut it and weld a new one on because it's cast iron and it'll crack if i do. people have told me to clock my turbo but it won't work on mine so i was thinking about getting a custom downpipe made the only problem is that the flapper that is connected to the wastegate actuator is installed in the factory downpipe not the center section of the turbo so if i get a new downpipe it wont have this and i wont be able to controll the boost. so i was wondering if i could use an external wastegate and would this be too much work because if it is i may have to buy a new turbo and that would suck ass. so i need some advice from you guys on what to do and also how much does a external wastgate cost? and is anyone here selling one or a new turbo that i could buy and avoid this entire headache? thanks for your help. |

hey, have you checked ebay for a wastegate...looks like they are going for at least a couple bills...
I think that this is the way you should go, that is if you can afford to buy all other equipment that is needed for wastgates(ie. boost controller), this way you can play with boost levels look around...search....i know you'll find something I've been pretty lucky at finding info about turbocharging my gsr.
