Anyone know how to reprogram the keyless entry controller on a 98' JETTA?

Does anyone have any instructions on reprogramming the keyless entrycontroller? For some reason the controller stopped working. I was told to take it a dealer to reprogram but that costs $. Is there anyone has instructions on how I can do it? Thanks..

You have to have two keys. One in the ignition and one for the door. Turn the ignition to the on ,not start, on position. Put the other key in the drivers door lock. Turn the key in the door to the right (lock position) and hold it for ten sec.s. Then immedialtly turn it to the left all the way, and hold it for ten secs. You should here a tone, or beep, like when the alarm arms. When you hear this press the unlock button on your remote. There should be another beep to let you know it has programmed. You may need to replace the batterys if this doesn't work. Though sometimes it's the remote itself that craps out. If you hear the confirmation tone. Take the key out of the ignition and see if the remote works now.
