D16Z6 or Y8 swap prices?

Anyone got an idea of what the cost of that swap might be?
Also, anyone who has any links to engine dealer websites would be most welcome

if you are on the east coast e-mail [email protected] thedropshop
if you are on the west coast nippon motors

i also suggest a 88-91 Si tranny (better gear ratio). and to get the most out of your swap, you should use a P28 ecu (92-95 Si/EX). you can try and rewire 50 wires. i got a wiring harness for $150 and only had to extend 8 wires. i think the harness is worth every penny...but that's me.

I agree with Ami, i did the long route ans resoldered all 50 or so wires, i wish i had that wire harness when i did mine. i spent about $1000 buying the engine and rebuilding it, and the ecu, distributor, wire harness etc...

How do your cars pull with the sohc vtec engine in it?

I'm still thinking I'm going to go with the DX tranny cause I still need to retain some fuel economy, considering how much, and how far I commute... Race very little these days...
Am going need to upgrade the clutch though, any suggestions?

don't even sweat the tranny giving you bad gas mileage. seriously. my si always got the same gas mileage as my dx's. and my gas mileage still hasn't changed much. the si gives you a longer final drive. you can hold your gears longer. i always ran too quickly through the dx gears.

as for how hard the sohc vtec pulls...i hear about crx's running as low as 15.4 1/4 mi. so i would say expect a mid 15-16's depending on your reation times, shifting, and any other mods (I/H/E).

Ami-
Do you have any connections up in OR for engines, I am sick of trying to find one here in CA.

Actually, probably the best place to find a D16z6 or Y8 is at the local junk-yard. At my local junkyard, they had 5 Y8's just lying around. The one that I bought is from a 98 EX, and has less than 8000 miles on it. I'm paying $900 for it, but if I went with one of the other Y8's they had with higher mileage, I would've paid less... Just gonna do the rebuild/swap myself (with help from more experienced people), so the install won't really cost me anything. Since it's a d-series engine, it'll bolt right up, so it should be relatively easy for someone like me who has never swapped an engine before.

Well I'm pretty confident I could put the engine in myself too... IF I had a place to work on the car at... as of right now, just have a gravel drive way and a tool shed...
