Post Tell how you have lightened your car

Current I own a 95 Civic DX and I've:
Removed the passenger seat, taken out the spare tire, trunk board, trunk carpet, lighter Rims, and bought a carbon-fiber hood. I have found that it is almost pointless to remove the back seats also because they are foam and quite light.

Soon: Out with the A/C and power steering, and Racing seats.

take the stereo out of your car...
i bitch about weight and i have a heavy system in mine.. if i took it out i would lose some good weight..
if you have power windows or locks you could look into those..
or carbon fiber parts other than the hood..

Actually.......

Actually I just sold my speaker box and I'm gonna build a speaker box into the bottom of the trunk so the top of the speakers are even with the carpeting, and make it easily removable. Also I don't have power anything, no power windows, no power locks, not even cruise control. I've been looking into carbon fiber trunk lids, but they're quite expensive, even though they look nice too and would match my carbon-Fiber taillights and hood. Anyone know where I could get a carbon fiber trunk lid cheap?

First off, when I bought my car new, ('00 Civic DX coupe) we got it without A/C. 30 pounds in the dead front shaved right there. Since I've gotten lighter rims (12lbs. per wheel), gotten somewhat lighter suspension (shocks/springs) although I did add a few bars for stablization on corners. But having a DX, I'm already lighter than most since I lack stuff such as cruise control, sunroof, power windows/locks, and some other misc. stuff... From what I've read, removing like radio, C/C, all the power stuff, A/C sound deadening and carpeting, you can shave something like 134 pounds from your car... That was in a 6th gen Si though.

Well, I didn't really make much of a difference but I know the weight's not there, and that's something that my opponent typically hasn't done to his car. :smoka:

i took out the spare tire, and trunk board. unfortunatly i have a stupid heavy box in the back. i need to fully remove my cruise control because it doesn't work anyway. uh, airbags are leaving because i don't want to get hit with a canvas bag at 100mph. i'd rather die thanks. i'm going to be getting racing seats at some point. carbon fiber hood as well. maybe fenders, trunk lid, and wing if i go crazy and have money, but don't worry i will be painting to match the car.

I took out my A/C and P/S and then bought a full race crank pulley and I noticed a big diffrence in Torque.

With my Teins, she rides quite nicely now! I keep them set so they feel a little stiffer than what stock did (I like a tiny bit of bounce to the feel). I can corner much quicker, and the ride feels real smooth around curves, and even on the straights. When tuned to the softest setting, you almost can't tell it's on custom suspension "2 lower to the ground than stock. Anyone that's rode in it with me was impressed but the feel of my ride.

BTW, I'm gonna try to go to my first auto-x event this weekend with my car, I'll let you know how that ends up going.
