RSX Type R coming to america (Hopefully)
From what I am hearing, the RSX Type R is coming to america by spring of 2003. None of the places that I find this information have any official association with Honda. Honda has not released a press release saying it is coming to America. My question is:
Does anyone know if it is truly coming to America. Specs: Real Recaro Racing Seats (choice of blue red or black Brembo 4 Piston Claipers, With Brake Cooling Ducts in Front Bumper 11.5:1 Compression 6 Speed Manual 220HP 2.0 Liter I-Vtec Engine One Piece Light Weight Alumium Flywheel And More Phat Stuff Click On This Link And Look At The Pictures, It Is Hot |

Personally i would not trust sales people at dealerships they lie their A@# off just to sell you a car. I bet a lot more than 500 are coming. But if he is right that will mean that the car will sell well above msrp and ruin its value.

Are you sure that the actual integra Type R is coming to America in the spring 2003, or is it just the 2003 rsx type s with the factory performance package (which will start selling in the spring 2003)?

I just went to my acura dealership last night and they said they have recieved no information that the type r is coming next spring. Then again, maybe acura is keeping it quiet.

Dealerships are stupid...
They always give you some god damn bull$***. I asked a guy at Acura to notifiy me after FULL COMFIRMATION of the RSX Type R is comming to North America or not. And I went there before summer break and I haven't received any new useful info yet. The only info I got was the RSX Type S Performance Package... and now? I'm almost given up hope for the Type R, because they have to undergo quite a bit of paper work and s*** and The RSX Type S isn't exactly very popular in North America (My opinion) because I've only seen a few and I mean like 3-5 in my city... (My O.E. teacher has an RSX Base. )

I think that as long as the Honda engineers figure out a way to adjust the exhaust manifold so that its exhaust can meet American emmision requirements, Honda will bring the rsx (integra) type r to America due to its predecessor's tremendous success and popularity. However, I doubt the type r is coming to America this year especially since the type s with the factory performance package (which is exactly the same as the type r without the 220 hp engine and the badging etc.) is going to be sold this year. Honestly, who would buy the performance package if they knew they could get the actual type r instead? I predict the rsx type r to be coming in 2004 but that is just my opinion.

Rsxer45, you are right.
I was reading, and also contacted the Acura dealership. The Type-R version of the RSX is NOT coming to the USA. The Acura FP RSX will be coming out early/mid year. FP=Factory Performance. When reading the magazine it said you would have to add another 6-8,000 to the orignal price. Pretty much you are buying a whole new car. Look around the price of 28-30,000 for the FP RSX. Hope this information helps. |

Drifter To Be,
Actually the RSX is popular in America. I've seen about the same number of RSX's around my area(Virginia). Talking from a reliable source from Acura, the reason why you probably haven't seen that many is because the shipment workers are going on strike right now. Acura hasn't shipped their September shipment in. Which probably won't be coming until Late Nov, early December. Details about why they are actually striking is beyond me. I just know that is the reason. Would you rather be the only RSX on the road of few, knowing that there isn't many and alot of people want them?. I know I would love that. I've been researching alot of info on them as well. I'm currently planning to purchase one Dec.30-Jan.1st (the reason being is because i'm not 18) |

... I think that the RSX Type S or even the RSX at all is popular in my city. Everybody likes the Celica and when I went to dealer they had like 2 Type S, 2 Base, and 1 Premium sitting in the parking lot...
Oh well... at least I can get a Type S anytime I want and don't have to wait for shipment god damnit... I want the DC-5... The RSX Type-S's brakes are crappy... The Japanese Type R has Brembo brakes and are much better than the ones we get here... stupid U.S. and their laws... If their emission standards are keeping Canada from getting the Type R... (I'm from Canada and I'm only 14)
