Thumbs up Anyone else built the new Fujimi Civic Type R?

Typical late-model Fujimi kit-looks great finished but a few issues along the way.

The chassis is shared w/the Integra. So neither fits well...I had to modify the chassis so it would sit further forward. The suspension spacers that lower it are unnecessary if you go up with better wheels, which I was obliged to use. The kit rims are gorgeous if you like your Civics with 12" rims

It was a fun and quick build. I painted the seats/floors/door panel inserts with Tamiya bright red.

This car is so much cooler than the very lame Si they sell in the states.

I like the kit, and the idea, but I seem to lose motivation when Fujimi kits arrive, they are usually such a dissappointment and fail to replicate the look of the real car. Like you said, the wheels are often wrong or too small, and major details missing. If they could bring their standards up to Tamiya quality we would have sucha treat, Fujimi chose some great subjects!

The model looks great though, I love it! I had the chance to drive the real car and is a little gem, and a great price here too! Mine was red.

You are lucky! I guess having them built nearby helps w/the price. They try to get almost $20,000 for the Civic Si which is slower than the last one here. Only has 15" rims.

I'd build another one in black...though that would be stealing Veyron's thunder

BTW, I think your Celica GT-FOUR is just about my favorite on this whole site! I've never seen one built, and yours is perfect. This one really has "the look". Really inspires me to get mine built...that is one awesome model of a really cool car!

Thanks for the comments!

You've certainly done a good job with it anyway.

I just got that same kit. I was disappointed w/ the front grill and bumper the most. Very unrealistic looking. I plan on removing both grills and placing scale mesh behind. How did you do your headlights? Your look like they were done w/ Alclad. Very nice. I haven't decided how I'm going to them yet, thought you might have some tips. Your car looks pretty good. What rims are those? Volk TE6's I assume. Keep it up. Later... :bandit:

Thanks for the comments. I was tempted to do the real mesh grilles, though for a "quickie" the kit supplied ones are decent enough if your paint doesn't get too thick. They could have done a better job w/the engraving, for sure. If I build another, I'll do the real mesh trick.

Yes, the headlights are Alclad Chrome. Great stuff, I learned to spray it directly over freshly-applied Testors gloss black so it won't come off. It won't stick to Tamiya TS black.

The rims are Fujimi 18' Volk TE37MAG's.

NICE ...The choice of wheels really do make a big differance to there kits from Fujimi and these look good on the civic you posted.
Another sweet looking kit from you

The whole chassis on this kit needs to be shoved forward-the tab at the rear needs to be lenthened, the tabs at the front of the chassis need a lot of cutting. My rims fit quite well, only rub a tiny bit when turned. They hit the rocker panel. Not a big deal for me at all. When I first fit the chassis into the body, the rear wheels were against the rear part of the wheel openings. I'd say you need to move the whole chassis about 1/8 to 3/16" forward. That centered the rims in the wheel openings. Took about 30 minutes of cutting and fiddling, again no big deal for me. If you want and even lower look, you can do it w/the separate lowering bushings included. Not necessary on mine! BTW the chassis fit is better on the Integra, Veyron was finishing that kit when I visited him last. They are the same chassis.

Thanks, the side skirts and rear skirt are separate, and the entire front bumper/grille is separate, though the headlights are part of the body. Looks typical Fujimi, there will likely be plenty of body kits coming for this model.
