Re: DIY Seat belt with Softdrink can!
I never make them from aluminum, but I do make them from plastic, on a regular basis. aluminum is quite dangerous when working with it, as it tends to cut fingers, and DEEPLY I might add.

Yes, I also make them from plastic--now, but when I started, I too used soda cans! (Wild Cherry Pepsi!)
I find plastic easier to work with for cutting slots and holes; it's softer and easier to cut. But either way, it's sure cheaper and easier to get than photoetch.

Re: DIY Seat belt with Softdrink can!
I use plastic to make seatbelt in the past, to be honest I found that is easier to cut hole and slogs with aluminium compare to plastic.
Plastic sheet is a gd material to make seatbelt too, but the only problem is it is so brittle expecially you are cutting or drilling hole near the edge! rsxse240, Base on my experience (the last two night only !!! ~~~) Aluminium are not as danger as you though, the reason is when you are making seat belt or other tiny stuff, you are working with a very small piece of aluminium only. One suggest is to cut the aluminium nicely with a sharp cutter or needle, then sand the edge down. Irregular egde on the aluminium foil tends to cut your finger. Hope this is a useful tips for everyone!! |
