i have a 1993 bronco with a 302ci. 5.0L with a flowmaster exaust but i can only get the tires loose sometimes which is in the rain of first thing in the morning and the engine is still nice and cool. If u know of any good modifications that are cheap and help with power, torque, and gas mileage please tell. Also the body roll is startin to piss me off..... got any suggestions? thanx:ylsuper

So you want more torque, H/P and better MPG. And you want to be able to burn out on dry pavement. And you don't want to spend a whole lot of money.

I can do that. For a date with Demi Moore !!

Seriously, "speeds expensive, how fast do you want to go?"

You have to understand what your working with. Your Bronco is a 1/2 ton short box pick-up. With rear seat and a top. The 302 is not known as a low RPM power house.

Here are some suggestions;

If you want to do burn outs cheap. Take out your rear seat, spare tire and all of the junk you have in the back. Make sure your gas tank is about empty. And get really small skinny tires. Rev it up and do neutral drops. Of course your tranny isn't gonna like it.

If you want to increase your low-end Torque, H/P and MPG. Add a K&N FIPK, and a Jacobs MileageMaster ignition. All told about $500.00.

If yea really got to have tons of power, you can always to Nitrous. I haven't done NOX for a while. But I suspect you will drop about $1000 - $1500 into it. Be prepared to replace lot's of drivetrain parts.

Whatever you do. Avoid big wide tires. They will reduce your performance and your MPG. But they do look cool.

thanx for the advice although its no good for me cuz nos is very bad for my engine and if i can do n e neutral drops i can say good bye to my tranny. as for the intake and ignition system i will look into it. btw im not takin anything outta my truck cuz i just put 2 15" rockford fosgate HE2 woofers in the back and it would be kinda pointless to take out the seat.besides it dont weigh that much.

burnouts

Well you could do what I am currently doing to my bronco 2. I am installing a 302 with a c4 trans. You could put a good after market dual plane intake for a 4 barrel carb(around 150 200 bucks) then put a holly truck avenger 670 on top(410 bucks) put a good set of long equal length headers for torque(200- 300 bucks). thats without going into the engine for a different head, pistons, rods, cam etc. And if you don't drive you bronco far or if you could handle to have maybe slightly less gas milage, drop the axle gearing. Your bronco most likely has 3.54 ratio. Now if you have factory height tires, you could maybe drop to 4.11 or something in that area. If taller than stock adjust accordingly. I'm using 5.13 in a front end off a full size bronco D44 TTB, and a old ass eaton rear 1 ton axle with 5.14 ratio and 39.5 swampers. Hell, just dropping your axle gearing alone would give you a hell of a lot more low speed power, you would be a lot more into your powerband.

Deffinately get a 351. Tons of power, and lots of room for mods.

Re: good mods for broncos?

More mods for a 302 than for a 351. If you want power, and wheel spin, then you wont get good gas mileage. First off, change it from speed desity set up, to mass air flow system. Then get a performance chip, and maybe a milder cam. Shift kit in the tranny will do some good as well. Also, and this depends on the tire size you are running, go with 4:11 gears. But remember, you have to regear front and rear or you will tear shit up when you put it in four wheel drive. 4:11 gears are for tire sizes 33" and smaller, anything bigger than that go with 4:88 gears. Gotta remember, its a bronco that weighs 5000 lbs, its not made to go fast. There are some very quick ones out there, but they have a lot of money into them. You could always get a hypertech programming system. They are good for all around performance and cost about 350 dollars. But i would start with intake, exhaust and gears. If you really want to be quick, make it into a 347 stroker, and then supercharge it or turbo charge it.

if you dont have big tires you can increase the power a little bit with a few items, i made this on my 79 mustang and bronco II long time ago
i already know the difference between a bronco and a mustang (i had both 302s ) and of course the bronco is a lot heavier
replace the coil stuff (coil, cap, rotor and wires) by a supper coil system and increase the gap of the plugs, advance the timing a few degrees, and replace the manifolds by a shorty headers, include a H type 2" moufler adaptor between the cherry bombs and you get more horses,
the problem is that the noise is not street legal and you sacrifice gas $$
but feels great to drive them
