Too lazy to hold the brake...

i was wondering when im stopped at a light is it ok to let off the brake, and pull the ebrake up? i have an a/t

im assuming its not putting extra wear on anything since when you hold the brake in normally the engine is still in gear. i guess it would put stress on the rear brakes, but nothing big since there would probably be more pressure applied if you park on a steep incline and have the ebrake in.
