Painting Models using Tamiya Paint

I was looking through the picture gallery and when I looked at Primera Man's AWESOME work I was surprised to see that he used Tamiya paint and not Automotive paint. I would much prefer to use Tamiya paint myself and I would love some good information about how to get it right.

Would I still use Primer as a base coat?
Is it possible to polish tamiya paint?
How would I paint the panel lines, could I polish off excess paint?
Is the finish with Tamiya paint as good as Automotive paint?
Would Enamel or Acrylic Paibt be best for bodies?

If you guys could share your techniques then that would be great.

* One of many reasons to use primer is to make bare plastic less opaque to simulate sheet metal of a real car, so regardless of brand, I recommend primer.
* Tamiya Spray paint is polishable.
* Use fine graphic pen or mechanical pencil for panel lines.
* The finish is as good as Automotive paint.
* I think it's just a personal taste whether to use enamel or acrylic.
You can achieve fantastic result with either enamel or acrylic, if (here is a tricky part) you get used to one or another, and know how to use it right.
From my experience, enamel takes longer to dry, so I prefer lacquer based acrylic such as Tamiya or GSI spray, as well as GSI, Modeler's, Finisher's etc. They are all lacquer based acrylics.
