i need sagely advise

hey there world,
i need some advise. i am currently 18 and a senor at high school in western north carolina. i just came back from a road trip around the continental united states, but with out my car (a 1996 isuzu rodeo). apparently my friend decided to catch a nap on the return trip through idaho. he totaled my car and now has left me to go to college. i recently have the oppurtunity to purchase a 1990 525i BMW through some connetions at a great price. will this ar last me through college. it is in excellent condition and has a 60,000 miles on its second engine. i need help.

I am 19 and have an '86 528e automatic on its second engine (about 35,000 miles). It was my first car at the age of 17. The car itself has almost 300,000 miles and it is in outstanding condition; feels like it could run another 300,000. That ought to answer your question, considering your 525i is just getting broken in with 60,000 miles.

Why though, is it on its second engine? That may or may not be a bad sign. Overall, the engine is the heart of any BMW, and the 2.5 in your 525i is supposed to be one of the most reliable BMW every made (look how many are on the road powering 325's and 525's). Expect to encounter many annoying electrical glitches throughout your period of ownership, however.
