What Engine Should I Go With???

Well I Have A Few Questions??? I'm Sure That These Questions Have Already been Asked But Ill Ask Them Again!!!!

I Have A 1990 Honda Civic STD Hatchback!!!!

The Motor I Currently Have Isnt Worth My Time Or Money To Really Mod It Out!! My Plans Are To Drive This Engine For About 6-8 More Months And In Between Those 6-8 Months I Want To Start Rebuilding A New Engine To Put In!!! Now I Know No Matter How Much Money I Sink Into This Car I Will Get Nothing Back When I Sell The Car!!! I Want A Quick Engine, But Also What An Engine Thats Worth The Money I Spend On It! I Would Like To Do A Whole Engine Swap MYSELF For Under 2,000 Bucks!!! I Know Kinda What I Want But Would Like Some Opionions From Experienced AF Members! Also If You Post About A Certain Engine Can You Go Into Detail Why That Engine Is A Good Engine???

THANKS

I say you go with a newer DX engine, or a d16y5 or y8.

DX engine, still slow but its a newer engine and more aftermarket support for it

d16y5 - 92 - 95 EX engine, faster but you gotta worry about wiring vtec
d16y8 - 96 - 00 EX engine, ditto d16y5 but newer

well your looking at 2 options b/c anything b-series is gonna be over 2k so my my recomendation woulkd be either d16z6 or zc both are good motors but you'll have to pick up an 88-91 si tranny and then you'll be cookin. the rebuild on the zc may be more fun do to being DOHC and not SOHC like the d16z6 both if you can squeek out just a little more you might ba able to get the turbo for the d16z6 from Greddy and that will help you get up and go. the kit will fit on either engine and both drop right into, you'll havign wiring issues goign from dual point fuel injection to multi point fuel injection and then wiring for v-tec for the d16z6, zc is not v-tec. but it would be a nice project ask ladyredsi about the d16z6 swap

B18A. Then NEXT fall when you take it off the road for the winter and you have more money saved up you can take it apart and build a LSVTEC setup of sorts.

Ive got 2 cars, both dx's.
what do you think? One's gonna have a d6z6+turbo T3/T4= $5000
The other one LSVTEC =$5000 (somehow built)
which is more powerful??

sorry melt but you got that all wrong

don't go with a Dx motor, it's a d15b2...which is what you have now. for a little more power you can drop in the 88-91 Si d16a6.

d16z6 - 92-95 Si/EX engine

i did the d16y8. it is the same installation process as the d16a6....but has vtec. the d16z6 is a little harder (in wiring) install so i hear

ps. you can easily do the y8 swap + get a clutch for $2000>less
