what engine should i swap into my CRX SI?

I have an 89 CRX SI. I'm thinking of doing a swap. I just want to hear a few opinions of what would be the best swap for a reasonable amount. I was thinking of going with a LS, but want to hear some opinions first.

b16s are good and economical.

u can do the b16 swap for about the same as an LS or a little more and your getting a much better engine and vtec. if you have the money the B16 is the best swap for the 4th gen. unless you are going turbo then i would do the LS or a ZC

I could pick up an LS for around $400, rebuild it and swap it in, if you can get a b16 for close to that let me know. And what's so much better about a b16 anyway, it has more horsepower and vtech but LS has way more torque and it would be cheaper, and most likely faster.

Re: what engine should i swap into my CRX SI?

first off your not putting a cordless under the hood so say it right, VTEC, no H, and you might be able to get the block for 400 and rebuild it, but wheres the tranny, clutch, axles, ECU, harness, etc.

and you talking about a long block or shortblock, you might still need the manifold, head, injectors, starter, alternator, belts, etc.

It might have more torque but it sucks on top end. B16 will beat it on top end. Anyways let me throw in a suggestion here. Get a fully complete b16a first gen head. Get a gsr/type r bare short block and build it from scratch. Thats what i did. You can finda complete head for 250-400. 1.8 gsr/type r shortblock for around 400-550. I bought a complete b16a swap with installation ( me and my guys did it) for 2000. As i done my research after i got the swap, i could've done the poor mans type r swap. I'm an all motor guy so 1.8 is a must if you want to hit 12s. You'll get nice torque and nice top end power.

Yeah the h22a would be really nice, but there is no way i could afford it. i've been researching and i'll probably just go with a zc, it's not as much power as say a b16, but it bolts straight in no mods and i can pick one up with under 40,000 miles with a 5-spd tranny for only $645. i found that on www.nippon-motors.com, it's a great deal, and with a 88-89 integra ECU and a few easy bolt-ons i could be runnin 14's. Not bad for only $645!

ECU+bolt-ons+motor/tranny > $645
