1989 LeSabre T-Type(Performance ideas?)

Does anyone have any ideas on what i should do to my LeSabre T-Type to add performance? I'm getting a K&N Filter, flowmaster muffler, and i'm currently looking for a performance chipe but i need to do stuff fairly cheaper than supercharging. Thanks

Speed is always nice, but I like to start with the stopping power before I try to kill myself! Does it have 4 wheel disc breaks? If not then get those rear drums outta there and bolt on some big cross drilled and sloted discs with a big 4 piston caliper. Now upgrade those tiny front ones also. Obviously, 13" Bear breaks aren't gonna fit under anything smaller than a 17" rim, so you better get those first! When get you 60-0 time under 3 sec. and less than 60 ft. let me know. Then I'll tell you how to soop it up.

Well i just got new brakes yesterday and i'm stopping on a dime now. Although they're not 13" they are 8" and they're brand new.

auto zone has z-rated brakes for 100 bucks each, for performance sake try this, 30 shot nos and hallow the caddylac converter. split the pipe and make a dual exaust the whole way front to back elimate the flowmaster and get a set of cherry bombs, it will sound awsome and be fast too! your get 15hp with just the caddy empty.if you dont like cherry bombs then try a camero muffler

Re: 1989 LeSabre T-Type(Performance ideas?)

Well, I dont know if this is something you want to do but you could get a computer re-programmer from any auto part store or even from GM itself. My grandfather bought one for his 98 s-10 and it now is extremely wicked, it has been clocked at over 128 mph. You can set up you acceleration, fuel acconomy, and horsepower. My grandfathers is just a cheapy he bought from GM for around $100. Hope this helps!

About the T-Type Lesabres.... i have one.... listen to joshey on wat he sayin bout the cherry bombs... it sounds like a nascar. wouldnt change that muffler for nething. my dad has a 29 model a w/ cherrry bomb turbos u wanna say loud.. u wont be able to. but on my LeSabre T-Type i installed the new 3.8 series 2 that engine is a monster i took off the cats n put on my own intake out of pvc pipe w/ insualtion. it sounds like a turbo when the butterfly opens n closes in the throttle body. computer upgrade would be good w/ thenew enging if u want to take the time to mate the wiring i hooked it up to the old 89 computer n i need a new tranny now from racing of course but wat do u expect from a car w/ almost 200,000 miles on it. im buying another lesabre t-type n turning it into a ful out race car n im gettin a 90 c.i. supercharger from intense performance for the series 2 nthere also working on a turbo that does 8 seconds in the quarter in a grandprix...wich a daily driver n still has ALL interior. w/ a few extra goodies.... if ur gonna do a t-type...do it fast cuz thats wat its all about...feel me ? im pushin 230 Ftlbs w/ 240 hp PRACTICALLY STOCK!!! this is a very fast car. i recomend one to everyone but then we wouldnt be special. LOL
