VR6 vs 1.8 Turbo
I am thinking about getting a new GTI next year (2002) I read that VW is upping the output on the VR6 to 200hp vs the 1.8 Turbo thats getting about 180 I think. I was wondering what would be the best platform for future aftermarket performance parts? Whats everyones take on these two power plants? Is it easier to upgrade the turbo motor since it already comes with a turbo? Or is the bigger, beefier VR6 the way to go? Thanks to anyone that responds.

well, after ready all that I have to say I'm still a little confused. I guess everyone has their own opinion and that what I'm after. But, it just seems like people are arguing towards what they like. I guess in the end the VR6 would win out if it had all the same mods on it, obviously at more of a price. Someone mentioned turbocharging/supercharging the new V6; What do these setups cost? What kind of performce gains are yeilded? Any websites I can check that carry them?
