vtec

im not vary familar with import 4cyls but i do know quite abit about the mitsu/chry 2.0 used in the lasers . my question is that i saw a honda the other day and its vtec looked very simmler. i was just qurious if they were based from one another

Which Diamond Star motor are you referring to, the naturally aspirated one or the turbo? And to answer the question either way, Honda engines are developed exclusively by Honda, no sharing of design or concept has been shared with Chyrsler or Mitsubishi. Also, neither of the engines you mentioned has a variable vale timing system.
