Do older Trans Ams come in manual ?
Hey peeps,
I got a quick question to ask you guys about the trans am. Does anyone know if that made a early model trans am say 80-93 in a 5spd. manual transmission ? I saw one but I didn't know what year it was I'd say somewhere around 89 and 93. Also can you get a nice size 8 of the same year range with a 5spd. manual ? If so why doens't anyone have one ? I have seen one for sale and it was a 6cylinder 5spd. Trans am. But I wanna built a really good road/ auto-x car and also possibly turbo charge it. So it would be great if you gues could help me find wich year's to look for.

From 1987 through 1993 you could only get the Borg-Warner 5-speed with any engine, EXCEPT, the big 5.7L L98 V8. Only in 1993 with the introduction of the LT1 could you get a manual transmission with the 5.7L engine of the model year. hope this helps.
*side note* The only way to get the 5.7L/5-speed combo was in less than 10 (RPO 1LE) Camaros. Most of the 5-speed 1LE's were slotted with the samller 5.0L 305TPI V8. If you find one of these cars, call me.....
