Trans Ams and Camaros

does anybody know what the deal is with stopping making Firebirds, Trans Ams, and Camaros after 2002?

one of my friends insists that 2002 is the last year forever, another one says they are coming back with them in 2004 or something... does anybody know what the truth is because both cars in general especially the Ram Air Trans Am are really nice cars, and I would be kinda disappointed to see them go...

My understanding is that due to slumping sales, being out sold 1to 3 by the mustang and a desperate need for an update due to an anchient chasis, that general motors decided the market just was not there for the money involved in a redesign. But, that possible a new version might come out in 2005. Similar situation illustrated by fords thunderbird. More then likely GM will go towards more smaller, modern vehicles like the concept pontiac solstice for their future sports cars.

One way or the other, it's bullshit. GM has been recieving an angry letter from me the consumer every month for a year, telling them how much i want to trade in the Bonneville for a T/A and they have sent nothing back.

Maybe in my next letter i'll write to them tell them i've decided to go
buy a Mustang since they can't be bothered to acknowledge my concerns. Would that make a difference or just add fuel to the fire?

One way or the other, there's gonna be alot of lost business for GM if they pull that.

Looks like official word from GM on this one is: The Camaro and Firebird (f-bodies) are no longer being made after this model year. There is a very high likelyhood that they will be re-introduced in the 2005 model year, but... as a smaller, front-wheel drive car. WTF?? Talk about a disgrace to the name, this is worse than the Imposter, I mean Impala.

as a design student in college, we've seen some concepts of a new camaro to possibly be introduced around 2005. i've heard it's a V8 RWD platform like before, but based on the 67-69 notchback body style, looking closest to a '68 with the rectangular turn signals. nothing's cast in stone as far as i know, but GM is thinking.....
