B16A tell me I made a good choice!!

I just got a b16a from a 2000 civic si with 14k miles and had it converted to obd1. I decided on this one b/c of the low mileage. Now all my friends are telling me I should have gotten the b18c1. I thought cause my car was light weight ('92 civic cx) I wouldnt need the extra 15# torque or 10hp. My friends have talked so much SHlT I forget why I got the engine. Anybody please tell me I made a good choice, and some good upgrades for this engine.
thanks!!!

are you happy with it? then yes, it was an excellent choice. best choice you could have made.
are you unhappy with it? then no, it was a bad decision.

who gives a fuck what your friends said you "should have" done.........unless you are footing the bill.
b16 in a 92 CX (same car as me, but yours probably has a front end) is a nice setup in my opinion.

And then both of you guys w/ you sewing maching powered cars get passed by a moped w/ a 5hp Engine and he goes on to put 5 car lengths on you. Racing an EX vs a DX is like a 10 speed bike vs a golden retriever.

Awesome motor, great potential. Later on down the road if you want to expand, do an LSVTEC or resleeve your bottom end. But for now, it'll be plenty fast for what you need.

you did great, how much was it? A b16a in a 92 cx is about the best combination because of power to weight. Enjoy the ride!

I beg to differ. I've got a 92 cx hatch. Since our cars weigh the same (roughly), and my GSR engine will have more power, how would the b16a be a better choice b/c of the power to weight ratio? The b16a has 160hp, B18c1 has 170hp, that doesn't make any sense. The b18c1 would have a better power to weight ratio.
Anyway, leolo007, I'm sure you'll enjoy your "new ride." I'm sure you'll rack up many kills!

how much does the b18c weigh, vs how much does the b16 weigh? i think the b16 is a lighter engine, in a lighter car...and he's saying that the 10hp difference isnt that big of one, being he has a lighter engine.

hey thanks for the positive feedback. I dont have the engine istalled yet. In fact I dont have it, I should be getting it this week. I ordered it from hondamotorsonline, I dont know if I paid too much, got it for 3100, they had a b18c for 3300 but it was from a 95 teg with 51k miles, I know thats not bad but I thought a b16 5 years newer with almost 40k miles less was a better choice. for now Im going to keep it stock, Im just getting a cai and maybe a header, Im customizing an exhaust from a 99 civic si from a friend that doesnt need it to fit my civic for now cause I dont know if I want to go forced induction later and have to get another exhaust. I dont know how to but Im going to try and post a pic. I will let you all now how the install goes.
about the power to weight ratio, I know the b18c is not heavy enough to make a difference, a cx with b18c would kick my buttocks... but we'll see. let me know what you all drive, tell me some good upgrades for this engine, some stuff I can still use if I go sc later?
Thanks again

wow, looks to be in excellent shape.....hard to find 92s in such good shape. (mine is, with the exception of the front end being ripped off - http://dreemkill.net/galleries/wreck/)
mine is also a 92 CX, but has side moulding and stuff....a lot of the DX trim.
i have bronze konig heliums, had clear corners too..but those are bye-bye. taillights are custom painted altezzas, tho i think i wanna go back to stock with those, or some red/clears maybe. gotta get an estimate, hopefully can by tomorrow....was supposed to have gotten one on friday but the guy didnt make it to my house before i had to leave for work.

No I didn't mean to say that a b16a powered 92 hatch is the best and end all, be all swap to do. A lot of people say the b16a is a torqueless wonder so having a lower weight works out well with the car. Now putting a b18c in it is great but then a h22a would also be great( with suspension mods). I'm just trying to reassure him that getting a b16a wasn't a foolish decision. :flash:

Leo, nice ride! Is that the stock rear spoiler? I had to put my rims back on. Currently I have the hx wheels on my hatch. I was driving down I-95 the other day and noticed that a huge chunk of tread coming off of my right front tire. Luckily I was only 5 minutes away from my house. I pulled in to the nearest gas station and couldn't put on my spare b/c I didn't have my jack. Anyway, I drove home and decided to put all of my rims back on. Man, it's a nice look too! So, I guess now when I go to the track, I'll have to take off my 17's and replace them w/ the hx wheels I have left.

My friend ordered a b16 for his hatch from some place and paid only $1200 including having it shipped.
