When you cannot remember how many do you have of a kit you saw on Ebay is normal to most of us I guess, but how often do you scratch your head trying to remember if you ever bought a particular kit? I, for example, always wanted to buy a Lancia Stratos. Now I cannot remember if I bought it or not. Does this happen to you also or is it the effect of age?

My memory problem is that I can't for the life of me remember why I thought I need all those kits I have!!

That's the problem I have too! At last count, there's nearly 50 waiting to be built - 2 1:8, about 10 1:16 and the rest 1:24 / 25......

Well, if you can't remember why just now, know that at some point there was a reason you bought it. So, just have faith it was a good reason (you wouldn't have bought it otherwise, right?), and you are therefore meant to have that kit.

(And if you find yourself with just too many Enthusiast Ferraris, you know who to come to. )

I have sort of the same problem but it is more like "hmm, how many of the Rc211V Valencia ´03 kits do I have??" I know I need 6 to finish off all my projects but have I bought 3 or four... Terrible. But as someone said, it's not far to my building room wich gives me a chance to look over the total stack as well.

Well, twenty plus years of collecting...
I've found kits I forgot I bought, and I've not been able to find kits I know I have. I was looking for a pickup to build for another forum and found 18 different pickup kits, and I know that I have, or have had, several more.
The worst part is when I find a kit in the stash that I know I had on my want list for years before I got it, and now I have no idea what my plans were?

I personally don't have this problem because I am new. But I do run into a problem where I am almost "scared" of buying new kits now, since I know for sure I will not have time to build them all and it will eventually lead to problem you guys are discussing here.

How do you guys manage to get into this position? Do you just buy all kits you like and not worry about not having enough time to build them all? I am interested to find out cause it has been bugging me lately...To buy or not to buy...It almost makes me rushing my current project so that I can "catch up".

I have about 10 kits waiting for me to build, I don't want them to go to waste...

I am talking about myself only of course.

Evil bay is the main reason behind that.... you see an attractive bargain that you can never let go although you have three or four of this kit. You convince yourself you need it because you will make this or that conversion out of it, or you build immediately in your fantasy a Chevy show room where this kit will perfectly fit in India ivory/Aztec gold color combination. But you are not alone in this world and others are interested also in this kit. Does not matter, deep inside you know you need it and you must have it...... Finally you win it at the shop price if not higher.

Or you come across a silly boring model that you do not like. Therefore it is the perfect guinea pig for your paint experiments because you do not care much about the result.

And there is of course these skilled modelers on internet forums who show you how poor your building skills are. As
you know by now how to build those kits properly, you muse buy them again to do so.

Even if the kits are too dear and fine for your skills to build, like in my case with the Porsche GT and Enzo Ferrari from Tamiya, they are worth collecting. So what to do is to buy...

As an avid modeler you muse be able to tell the difference between same kits made by different manufacturer. It would be a shame if you cannot tell the difference between the Diablo made by Fujimi and that made by Italerie.

And what about gaps in your collection? How could it be that you do not have the complete GM line of a certain year? How would you allow a missing 1966 Impala in your 60s Chevy collection?

But when it comes to ask yourself when the hell are you going to build those kits, your distorted fantasy reminds you of retirement and how important it is to keep yourself busy in this critical period of life.

Does work the same way with you also?

Must be down to the diameter of no. 3 rivets on the backside of the oil radiator???
