1/8 madness

I just stumbled over this website Diamond Cars

You got the see these scratchbuild 1/8 cars. I just love the Porsche 356, the 550 spyder and the Mercedes gullwing. The price tags are really high, but I wonder if they would sell just bodies?

Re: 1/8 madness

Some are very nice, but imho that E Type is shockingly out of shape & proportion (especially the bonnet) & the Lotus Elan isn't quite right either. No excuse for the E Type, as Revell's 1:8 Coupe could have been referenced to make most of it correct.....

Re: 1/8 madness

I came across these a**holes a while back. These monkeys have ripped the majority of the body straight from the Revell XKE - trust me AmazonSprite, I know from you're previous posts that you think the kit is accurate but the front end is way wrong, dust yours down and have a proper look!

I'm pretty sure that both the 356 and 550 (and possibly the Lotus) have also been ripped-off from a UK manufacturer (RAE) who charged substancially less money for these bodies - and they prototyped them...I get really angry when someone rips-off people like this!

IIRC, the 356 and 550 were available as kits...I've not built either as the 1:1 RSK version took a lot out of me, but I've seen the 550 in the resin and it's a beauty. Email me if you want more info as the company was local to me but their website is down...I'm trying to contact them and I only hope they're not out of business because of Muppets like this.

BTW, Their 356 and 550 kits were in the 500 Euro region - not much difference eh!

The only reference I can find to hand:

Re: 1/8 madness

They really don't look all that well built, either, to be honest. I feel like my 1:24's have better fit and finish than these do.
