Rear shock replacement

Friends,
How do I replace the rear shocks on my 1997 E39???the lower attachment bolts are quite obviously easy to remove, but the upper mounts are hidden somewhere beneath the rear speakers and rear deck. Any help will be appreciated.
Updating with Bilsteins and Eibachs.

pull out side panels in the trunk and see if the mounts are in there. the shock towers will be recognizeable and look on top. if not u have to take the seat out.
